In NLP terms we see goals as 'Well-Formed Outcomes'. They are outcomes that have been 'well-formed' in specific terms that enable us to achieve them by harnessing our mind's natural processes to support them AND encourage us to achieve them. When we know our final destination or outcome we are better able to work out how to get there or achieve it.
People think differently and the way that they set about achieving goals varies according to which side of their brain is the more dominant or more naturally used. NLP's Well-Formed Outcome Model harnesses both sides of the brain and shows specifically how we can form clear goals that 'fit' with the way that we run our brain. It provides us with a better chance of success because in using our whole brain we harness the natural resources that support us. In doing so the most amazing outcomes become possible. Part of the reason for this is that 'goals' are not as specific as deciding upon outcomes. Goals tend to be more general and vague whereas 'outcomes' are less ambiguous and more sensory-specific.
It is relatively easy to set goals and anyone can say that they want to be successful, run their own business, rise in their career or increase their income. Goals alone however do not tell us how to behave, feel and think. Nor do they help us in knowing what to do to achieve them, what resources are required and how we will know when we have achieved them; it sounds silly, but many people have what they want and do not actually realize it.
