Our thinking and behavior are the outcome of habit and we can become so programmed unconsciously to 'go through the motions of being ourselves' that we often merely replay programmes of communication instead of discovering and considering newer and more empowering ones. Remember that the quality of your communication is the response that you get. It is NOT the way that you feel about the other person's communication with you!

It is only by communicating what we specifically want to happen that others can assess our messages against their own understanding and future expectations. Communicating clear outcomes or expectations is essential in influencing them and how other people respond to them.
