If you consider that you already work flat out then it should be impossible for you to work any harder than you currently do. That being the case, then if you are not achieving the results that you feel you should be achieving, or your company feels that you should be achieving more, then there is a serious challenge looming somewhere over the horizon - unless something changes for the better.
The challenge for so many people is that much of what they consider to be work is often nothing more than misdirected or tension-relieving activity. This is not to say that you are not genuinely making every effort to work hard throughout the course of each day, merely that some of what you do may not actually be goal-achieving or as well-directed as perhaps it might be? Let's look at it another way. What is work? How would you define the word work? Think about that now.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines work as:
Activity involving mental or physical effort in order to achieve a result
The activity or job that a person does to earn money
A task or tasks to be done
A thing or things done or made
Now reflect on yesterday. Whatever your salary may be convert it into an hourly rate. Assuming that you work on average an 8 hour day, take a look at what was done in those eight hours yesterday.
