Below are some of the most frequently asked questions that we we receive from authors, writers and producers of creative work. If you have a questions that is not included below, we welcome your contribution at all times. Simply submit your question in the form provided below and we will answer it here within 48 hours of receiving it. Thank you.
1. How much do you charge for advice? << Back to the Top
Nothing. Our service exists to help authors and writers like ourselves, not to take advantage of their lack of knowledge or inexperience in publishing their work. That is why we provide this frequently asked questions page and invite you to ask your questions, and it is also why we encourage you to contact us about your needs. We cannot possible know how we can help you, unless we provide you with the opportunity to discuss your needs with us, and our advice is always absolutely free. All we ever charge for is our time, as and when you decide that you you want our practical help.
2. Can you publish my book for me? << Back to the Top
Yes we can. If your work compliments our publishing criteria, then we will be happy to consider it. If it does not, then we will be happy to assist you in self-publishing it. We may even be able to recommend another publisher who may be able to assist you.
3. What does it cost for you to publish my work? << Back to the Top
There are two answers to that question.
If your work is suitable for publishing by us (see our publishing criteria) there is absolutely no cost to you the author.
If you publish your work through our assisted self-publishing programme, then costs will be in direct proportion to the work that we do on your behalf. All costs are quoted and agreed with you in advance of any work being undertaken, and there are no hidden or additional charges once they have been agreed. In addition, where we use our own printers, designers, web programmers, proof readers etc, you pay the actual cost billed to us, with no hidden extras or ‘additional costs’ added on.
4. What would it cost me to have my book printed as a paperback book? << Back to the Top
That depends upon who you use to print your book. Our assisted self-publishing service assumes that you will be using a print on demand service of your own choosing, however, we do have other options that can be made available to you, should you wish to reduce the cost per book.
5. I only want my book produced for family and friends. Can you do that for me? << Back to the Top
Yes we can, in any format, print or digital, however, for a small print run, you may decide to go with an on online print on demand service.
6. What if I don’t have any money but I want my book published by you? << Back to the Top
For certain books, and at our own discretion, we will consider waving fees against future sales, however, we do not normally offer that facility to first time authors.
7. How long does it take to publish a book? << Back to the Top
If your manuscript is complete; proof read and edited, and you have the necessary permissions from any quoted copyright holders, etc, we can have your book ready for sale within two weeks, depending only upon the print service that you elect to use (ours or an online POD service). If you come to us with an incomplete manuscript for assisted self-publishing, and you require us to take you through the entire process, the timing will vary, depending upon agreed deadlines being met by you.
8. What royalties would I get if you publish my book? << Back to the Top
Our authors receive higher than average royalties for the publishing industry. The agreed rate will depend upon the type of book, audio or workshop, but will always exceed industry standards, which means that you will receive more than other publishers in the UK.
9. Is it easy to produce an e-Book? << Back to the Top
Everything is easy when you know how. In essence, it is relatively straight forward, but you need to understand the process, and it can be time consuming. There is software available for this process, but in our experience it is never as easy as the sales pitch would imply, and for a one off book, the learning time makes the job highly labour intensive.
I am interested in finding out more about your publishing and author support services. I understand that there is absolutely no commitment on my part, and I would appreciate more information please.
